About this Course

Email has become the essential computer skill to master. Learn the basics MS Outlook to send and receive email and store your contacts details. This course is focused on Outlook as a sophisticated tool for desktop management.

This course is intended for new users of MS Outlook. Attendees must have basic keyboard skills and a good working knowledge of Windows XP or later. We will introduce the features of E-mail and Contacts in MS Outlook, together with some tips and shortcuts to help you get the most benefit from your system.



Prerequisites

Attendees must be able to use a mouse and be familiar with the Windows environment, as covered in our Windows: Getting Started course.

At Course Completion

Outlook is a desktop information manager. In this course we cover the basic features such as:

  • What Outlook is and where it fits into your computer system.
  • Moving around the Outlook application.nCreating and sending e-mail messages.
  • Replying to and printing e-mail messages.
  • Creating Contacts to enter and maintain addresses.

It is important that you use your new skills as soon as possible on completion of this training course. We encourage you to take your own notes, and to review this Course Guide once you are back at work.

Course Outline


Communicate using Mail

An introduction to Outlook to enable understanding of what Outlook is and what it can be used for.  Identify and navigate through the different components of Outlook.  Send and receive messages.  Preview attachments without the need to open or save, attach documents to send to other contacts.  Explore the Message Options. Create signatures for your email messages. Explore the message options

Use Contacts

Create an Outlook Contact.  View your contacts in different arrangements and formats using the Standard Views.   Email a group of contacts using either the Contacts Distribution List or a Contact Group in Outlook.

Use Outlook to Manage Messages

Create folders to organise your messages.  Sort your messages.  Find messages from particular senders or containing specific text.  Print and Delete messages.
