Take what you learnt from the Project Task Management and Resource Management courses (or years of experience with MS Project) and use that knowledge to get more out of MS Project.

Anyone who uses Microsoft Project on a regular basis and wants to learn how to be more efficient and get more out of it. If you’re tired of fighting with Microsoft Project, making the same silly mistakes over and over, or just want to learn how to do things ‘better’ then this is the course for you.

  • Attendees of this course must:
    • Have experience and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Project
    • Have attended or know the material in the Task and Resource Management courses

You will walk away from this course with :

  • Best practice tips for setting up and using Microsoft Project
  • Critical path analysis
  • Custom views that you can re-use with your current projects for communicating and reporting on your project

Review Scheduling Options Even if you aren’t the one scheduling the project, it’s important to understand this critical step in MS Project. We’ll review the dos and don’ts and most common mistakes, as well as introduce some best practice tips for how to organize and set up your project schedule.

Managing Deadlines and Critical Paths How to handle time or resource constrained projects? We’ll look at some advanced views and techniques to help you tackle and overcome these challenges, as well as understand how MS Project behaves when using deadlines and critical paths.

Tracking
Update tasks and track against multiple baselines – the easy way! You’ll get some hands on practices with real-life examples on how to easily track progress complete and handle all the twists and turns along the way.

Extracting Information from MS Project Whether you’re printing the Gantt chart, reporting on completion, or handling extension of time requests, you need to get info out of Project quickly and without hassle. We’ll look at ways to save your most frequent views and settings, customize filters, edit advanced formatting options and leverage built in reporting.

Handling multiple projects When working on many projects at once, consolidate projects into one master view for easy reporting and discuss the pros and cons of resource pools (and their alternatives). When getting ready to start the next project, reuse views, calendars and more across many projects so you don’t have to start from scratch.
