This course will introduce you to Microsoft’s Power BI tool for analysing and visualising data, bringing business intelligence capabilities into your hands. In this hands-on workshop, you will explore the capabilities of Power BI and discover how it can help your company get real insights and valuable information from your data.


Analysts, managers, data scientists and anyone who is interested in visualizing data to get actionable insights quickly and easily. This course covers the essential skills of Power BI at all stages, so is suitable for those who have never used Power BI as well as beginners who are just starting out in their Power BI journey.



It is recommended that attendees are familiar working with data and simple reports. It is also helpful to have some experience working with datasets involving more than one table, and a basic understanding of how they are related.

It is necessary to have a basic understanding of:

  • Formulas in Excel
  • Basic Excel functions (including SUM, SUMIF, IF)
  • Charts and graphs
  • Tables and their properties (fields/columns and records/rows)

It is helpful, but not necessary, to have a basic understanding of:

  • Lookup and reference functions in Excel (VLOOKUP, INDEX & MATCH)
  • Pivot tables or charts
